Our manual systems are a perfect addition to your interior. After all, they fit virtually any window. You now have the opportunity to provide your smart home with completely identical window blinds. With our manual system, you can fit the smallest window in your home with our manual window blinds in the same fabric as your smart window blinds!
For windows where roller blinds are needed but use is infrequent, we also offer manually operated roller blinds. So you can still enjoy the same stylish roller blinds from Smartblinds for these windows, but with a chain-operated system instead of a corded motor.

Our products are made to measure. Enter the desired width and height of your blind and we will take care of the rest. You don't have to take into account any margins, we will calculate them ourselves. Please note! Before you start measuring, pay attention to any obstacles such as door and/or window fittings that protrude, heating pipes or inward-turning doors and windows.
Option A: Determine dimensions for mounting inside the recess
Measure the width at the top of the window recess and measure the height at the middle of the window recess. Please note! We supply the blind with a 3 mm reduction on both sides. So don't do any reductions yourself! Please also note a system height of 100 mm for possible obstacles such as doors and windows turning inwards.
Please note that the width size given is the size of the system. The fabric is always narrower than the system, see this article for more information.
Option B: Determine dimensions for mounting outside the recess
Measure the width and height of the window recess, with a small overlap. We recommend an overlap of 5 cm on both sides. Add a total of 10 cm to the width measurement. To determine the height, add 10 cm (height of system) to the height of your window recess. Do you want your blind to continue downwards? Then decide how many extra centimetres you want in height.
You can choose to hang your blind inside the recess or outside the recess:
Inside the recess
If you hang the roller blind inside the recess, it is mounted between the walls of your window. With this choice, we therefore supply your blind with a 3 mm reduction on both sides.
Outside the recess
If you hang the blind outside the recess, it is mounted on the wall and hangs over the window with overlap on both sides.
At Smartblinds, you can pick from 3 different bottom bars:
Metal bottom bar
We supply your blind with a metal bottom bar as standard. The luxurious metal bottom bar provides a sleek and modern finish to your blind. The colour of your metal bottom bar is determined by your system colour. For example, if you choose a black system, the colour of your bottom bar will also be black. The metal bottom bar has got a height of 2.5 centimeters.
Straight covered bottom bar
Besides a metal bottom bar, you can also choose a straight covered bottom bar. With an straight covered bottom bar, the front and back of the bottom bar are tightly finished with the fabric of the blind. The colour of the bottom rail therefore matches the type and colour of the fabric you choose. The straight covered bottom bar has got a height of 3 centimetres.
Straight Sewn Bottom Bar
With a straight sewn bottom bar, your roller blind will have a bottom hem. The bottom bar consists of a plastic weighting that allows the blind fabric to hang nicely straight. The fabric is pulled around the plastic weighting and glued to the back of your blind. The plastic weighting is 1.5 cm high. The total height of the straight sewn bottom bar is 3 centimetres.
Side spans, or wire guidance allows you to securely fasten the bottom bar of the roller blind to an opening door or a tilt-and-turn window. This system works by means of a metal wire running from the system to the bottom bar. There is an eyelet on the bottom bar through which the wire runs. At the bottom, the metal wire is attached to a support.
Note: Side spans are only possible in combination with a small brackets system and an straight covered bottom bar/straight sewn bottom bar. No metal
Note: If you choose clamp supports, you still need to select the clamp supports for the top under the clamp supports option.
Note: The width of a roller blind with side spans is 1cm narrower than a roller blind without lateral guide.
These support brackets are available in 4 options:
Standard outside the recess
Clamp mounts (tilt-and-turn window)
Luxury outside the recess
Luxe inside the recess
Clamping brackets are used when you want to mount the blind on or to a turn-tilt window without drilling. Clamp supports are suitable for plastic and aluminium tilt-and-turn windows. You can easily clamp them around the edge your turn-tilt window with the supplied Allen key.
Please note: Clamp supports are only possible with the small side support system.
Here you can fill in a reference for your assembled blind. That way you will soon know exactly which product is for which window in your house!
When you are looking for window coverings, it is important to determine beforehand what transparency you want in certain rooms. In bedrooms, for example, more blackout is usual than in the living room. Smartblinds fabrics can be divided into three different transparencies:
Blackout
Opacity: none - Light from outside is completely blocked and has no possibility to illuminate rooms.
Light filtering
Opacity: limited - Light from outside is obstructed, but not completely blocked.
Sheer
Opacity: full - Light from outside finds its way in, but the fabric offers the desired privacy.
Your blinds should, of course, match your interior. The colour and look of fabrics and materials can sometimes differ from reality from a screen or due to differences in light transmission. We therefore always recommend requesting free fabric samples in advance, so you can assess the fabric (colour) in real life!
Our systems are available in two sizes, small and large. The small system is suitable for small to medium-sized roller blinds. For large sized blinds, only a large system is possible. Our advice is to start by putting together the roller blind for your largest window in the house. If it turns out that you can only choose a large system for this blind, we recommend doing the same for the rest of your Smartblinds. This way you avoid having multiple Smartblinds in your home with different systems. Is your largest product also suitable for a small system? Then choose the system size that you prefer.
Below you will find the system height of the various systems, so that you can take this into account when ordering. Are you mounting your product in the window, but do you have a window that opens inwards? Then you can use this to check whether you have enough room for this.
Be aware! The system sizes below are all sizes for motorised products. Do you want to view the system sizes of our chain operated Smartblinds? Click the link below.
For the roller system of your blind, Smartblinds offers you a choice of two different types:
Brackets
Cassette
The pictures you see above are of our motorised systems. The systems of our chain-operated products are the same but have different system dimensions!
Our systems are available in white, grey, anthracite and black.
Colour information:
White = RAL 9003
Grey = RAL 7004
Anthracite = RAL 7016
Black = RAL 9011

Why chain-operated blinds?
Of course, it occasionally happens that you have a window that has the need for a blind, but where there is not the need for the daily opening and closing of the blind. Because you do not open or close the blind very often, the addition of the motor at this location is not necessary. For this reason, Smartblinds has created chain-operated systems. This way, you can provide these windows with a window covering with the same style as Smartblinds' smart window coverings, but without a motor.
Of course, you may also have a small window where a motor will not fit into the blind's tube. In the case of an electric roller blind for example, the minimum width to install a motor in the blind is in fact 66 centimetres. Even for windows that have a width of less than 66 centimetres, you can choose a chain-operated roller blind from Smartblinds. This way, you can fit all your windows with the same roller blind fabric and do not have to compromise on style..
